Our Process

Repairs that disappear

  1. 1
    Assess the damage

We confirm the cause (impact, settling, moisture) so the repair holds long-term.

  2. 2
    Cut and patch

Clean cuts, new drywall where needed, mesh or paper tape on every seam.

  3. 3
    Mud in coats

Multiple coats of joint compound, feathered out and sanded between passes.

  4. 4
    Texture match

Texture sprayed or hand-applied to match the surrounding surface.

  5. 5
    Prime & paint

Prime the repair, then color-match paint so the area blends seamlessly.

Patch, Replace, or Skim?

What to photograph before we visit

The right drywall scope depends on the cause and size of the damage. A few checks help you describe it accurately:

  • Small holes and dings

Nail holes, doorknob dents, and anchor damage patch and blend without replacing any drywall.

  • Larger holes

Anything bigger than a fist usually gets a cut-out patch with new drywall and tape. Photograph it next to something for scale — a hand or a tape measure works.

  • Soft or stained areas

Drywall that is soft, crumbly, or water-stained gets cut out, not patched over — and the moisture source has to be resolved first or the repair will not hold.

  • Cracks that keep returning

A crack that reopens after patching can indicate movement. Mention the history at the walk-through so scope determines whether more than a surface repair makes sense.

  • Dated texture throughout

When the issue is the texture itself rather than damage, skim-coating to a smooth finish across the room is usually the right scope rather than spot repairs.

What to send for an accurate written estimate

  • Photos of each damaged area, with something for scale
  • A wider shot showing where in the room it is
  • Wall or ceiling, and which room
  • The cause, if you know it
  • Whether painting afterward is part of the scope

Send these with the estimate form and the written scope will reflect the actual repair, not a guess.

FAQ

Common drywall questions

Can you repair water-damaged drywall?
Yes. We cut out the damaged section, address any visible underlying issues, install new drywall, tape and mud the seams, match the existing texture, and prime so the area is ready for paint.
Do you match existing wall texture?
Yes. Orange peel, knockdown, smooth wall, and skip trowel textures are all matched so the repair blends into the surrounding surface and disappears under paint.
Can you skim-coat textured walls smooth?
Yes. We can skim over existing texture to create a clean smooth-wall (Level 5) finish across an entire room or home — a popular modern look in Orange County remodels.
Do you handle ceiling repairs?
Yes — ceiling patches, water-stain repair, popcorn removal prep, and texture matching are all part of our regular drywall scope.
Do you paint after drywall repairs?
Yes. Most drywall projects are paired with priming and finish painting so the repair is fully invisible. We can also prep the area and leave it ready if you have another painter.
